Carbon data and methodology

Keep the accounting states separate
A project estimate, a proposed credit quantity, an independently verified net removal and an issued credit are different records. The staff registry starts with project codes, source estimates and draft credit proposals. Missing issuance information is shown as not recorded, not assumed to be zero.
Units and boundaries
A proposed credit is expressed as one tonne CO2e, subject to the chosen methodology and eligibility requirements. Stored carbon, biomass growth, avoided emissions and durable net removal are not interchangeable. Each quantity needs its measurement period, system boundary and calculation basis.
Verification before issuance
Assess additionality, baseline, lifecycle emissions, leakage, uncertainty, storage durability, reversal risk and double counting under the applicable methodology. Independent verification, registry acceptance and issuance evidence must be established before treating a proposal as an issued unit.
Project identities and source records
Tao codes identify internal records; they are not serial numbers from an external carbon registry. Portfolio entries are imported from the deployed portfolio snapshot. Supplier estimates are partner-declared. Overlapping source records require reconciliation before any aggregation or issuance.
Audit history and technology
Draft changes are versioned and linked by hashes. This provides an application audit trail, not an immutable blockchain or external certification. Blockchain anchoring, credit minting, transfers and retirements are not enabled by this release.
