Hemp building materials: carbon accounting.

Method: hemp-material-scenario-1.0. A transparent scenario, not certification.

From biomass to stored carbon

Gross storage in tCO2e = dry biomass tonnes × carbon fraction × retained material fraction × 44/12. Wet material must first be converted to dry mass using measured moisture. This endpoint accepts dry mass only.

Specify the retained fraction after processing losses and separate it from material sent to fuel. Specify storage duration and its basis; duration alone does not establish permanence or eligibility.

From storage to a net scenario

Subtract supplied project emissions, counterfactual baseline, leakage and risk deductions. Net is null if any deduction is missing. Enter a sourced zero only when justified. Cultivation, processing, binders, transport, construction and end-of-life belong in the declared accounting scope. This simple model does not establish that your boundary or deductions are complete.

No roots, soil change, avoided fossil emissions, credit issuance or statistical confidence interval is inferred. Do not sum overlapping batches or time-series stocks. Independent verification, additionality, durability and methodology acceptance require separate evidence and assessment.

Sources and reproducibility

Every mass, fraction and deduction has a supplied reference. The API returns those inputs, the versioned formula and a SHA-256 input hash. Source labels do not mean Tao verified the evidence. Read the API contract and accounting-state policy.
